Tony JuniperEnvironmentalist Tony Juniper has spent 25 years campaigning to protect the environment using moral arguments but says they have not worked.

He believes for there to be a significant change economists need to understand nature’s true value and fundamental contribution to economic development.

This in turn will force policy makers and the private sector to shift their thinking so that they don’t see the environment as an obstacle to ‘growth’.

Juniper challenges environmentalists who reject valuing nature (because they argue it will lead to its commodification) to engage with the field of environmental economics.
